msgmover alternative

msgmover alternative: Pippin

msgmover is a cog for the self-hosted Red-DiscordBot, with msgcopy, msgrelay, threads in beta, and no forum support yet. Pippin is a hosted bot. Right-click, then Apps, then Move, and it moves messages, threads, forum posts, and private threads, keeping the author name, avatar, media, and reactions.

What msgmover is

msgmover is a cog for Red-DiscordBot. msgcopy copies a set of messages. msgrelay keeps forwarding new ones, including to another server. It is maintained by coffeebank, and the docs are at coffeebank.github.io/coffee-cogs/msgmover. Checked 16 October 2026.

When msgmover is the better pick

You already run Red, or you need a continuous relay, or you need to mirror messages across servers. Pippin does not relay new messages as they are posted, and its docs do not describe cross-server moves.

When Pippin is the better pick

You want a hosted bot, no Red process to run, forum posts, private threads, and a guided wizard. Pippin also recreates emoji reactions, which msgmover's docs list as not supported yet.

Step by step

How to move messages with Pippin

  1. 1

    Add Pippin

Use Add to Discord. You do not install Red or a cog.

  2. 2

    Right-click → Apps → Move

Start on the first message you want to move. Pick a channel, thread, forum post, or private thread.

  3. 3

    Choose how many, then confirm

This message, a preset, everything below, or a custom amount up to 200. Author name, avatar, media, and reactions stay with the messages.

How Pippin helps

Same job, different kind of tool

Authors stay visible

Both tools use webhooks. Pippin keeps the author's name and avatar, and also media and emoji reactions.

Forums

msgmover's docs say forums are not supported yet. Pippin moves a forum post to another forum, a thread, or a channel.

Pings

A Pippin move only pings members who were @mentioned in the original message bodies. Otherwise no one is pinged.

Relay is a different feature

msgrelay keeps copying new messages. Pippin moves the messages you choose, then stops.

Good to Know

Credit where it's due

msgmover is a real cog with copy and relay, cross-server forwarding, and a public source repo. This page is not a claim that it is abandoned.

Thread support is still marked beta

The msgmover docs, updated note dated 2026-06-13, say sending to threads is in beta and forums are not supported yet.

More comparisons

Moveer moves people between voice channels, which is a different job from moving messages. The msgmover docs are the source for the msgmover column.

It uses webhooks so usernames and profile pictures are copied. Its docs say sending to threads is in beta, and that forums and reactions are not supported yet.

Is there a msgmover Discord bot I can invite?

msgmover is not a hosted invite-and-go bot. You run Red, add the coffee-cogs repo, and install the cog. Pippin is the hosted bot you can add to a server, then use with right-click → Apps → Move.

What's an interchannel message mover?
